Burnt toast is something that everyone needs in their life. It is more like a way to cope with the daily frustration, lows, and stress of everyday life. Here, let me explain to you what is the burnt toast theory.

Basically, burnt toast theory is a metaphor to help you understand that sometimes things we get frustrated about turn out to be good for us. Keep in mind that whatever happens, no matter what and how, just accept the fact that everything happens for a reason.

Burnt toast meaning is summarized as a story that is about a typical morning of a working day where you are getting ready to kick start the day by putting your toast in the toaster as always you do. Unconsciously you let the toast stay longer or selected the wrong setting that has made it a burnt toast and to do it again, it takes another five minutes which may make you late.

In order to get on time to the office, you are probably a little late than every day, rush into your car to reach your destination, and see a car accident that just happened five minutes ago.

You suddenly realize that it could be you, and then you will be thankful for that burnt toast they made you late today.

Let me narrate my other story.

2.     My Story related to the burnt toast

It was a regular weekday; like every other morning, I overslept for a while. I have alarms and then snooze every 5 minutes, but that day, I turned all of them off while asleep.

Well, I got up and looked at the clock, and it turned out I had gotten late. In a rush, I got up and tried my best to be on time. However, it made me even late, and in that case, I had already missed my commute, the bus route I used to take every day. In a rush, finally when I reached the stop and got into the next bus.

While on our route, there was a traffic jam; it turns out the bus that I usually take had gotten into a drastic accident, and many people got severe injuries while a few died on the spot. I could have been in that bus or could have died if I had not overslept. And that is my burnt toast story.

Hence, the moral of both stories is

It is better to be late than to be never.

Now, you may realize that the burnt toast theory is actually making sense. This makes us realize that minor setbacks are better than getting hurt severely.

The burned toast theory is more about clearing the path for something good that is coming your way that we sometimes don’t buy due to stress and frustration.

To some extent, we all need to understand that what we are dying to get, sometimes is not favorable for us. That is the core of the burnt toast theory.

Undoubtedly, we cannot control the things that will be destined, however, what we can do is to accept it as soon as possible and move on with our lives. Here are a few things that we can learn from the burnt toast theory.

We can learn the self-compassion

Understanding the burnt toast theory made me realize that it is not anyone’s fault but mine. If there is someone to blame, that’s me. I am the one who did that, and I am the only one who can fix it.

You need to remind yourself that you are smarter than any toaster and that it is fine to get burnt toast but don’t make it a habit. (this is mentioned metaphorically; please don’t take its meaning literally).

Secondly, that does not mean that you need to be tough all the time; you can have a pity party, but in the end, you will realize that it would not help you a little. This is how you can show self-compassion and get deep into what you will feel.
